Bone Broth Paleo

What You Should Be Drinking Everyday

If you follow the latest nutrition and wellness trends then you have likely come across bone broth over the past couple of years. Bone broth has quickly become a favorite addition to the Paleo diet or for anyone who is looking to boost gut health.

So, what is it that makes bone broth so great for our health? Bone broth is notoriously known to help support the gut lining which makes it especially great for anyone with leak gut syndrome. Bone broth contains collagen, proline, glycine, and glutamine giving it its healing properties. Not only that, but bone broth is also a powerhouse when it comes to minerals. Due to the way bone broth is made, these minerals are also readily available and very easy for the body to absorb. This superfood contains calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus.

On top of the digestive health benefits, and the plentiful number of vitamins and minerals, bone broth can support health in a number of other ways including:

  • Joint health support: Due to the collagen, bone broth can help support joint health. Collagen decreases with age, so supplementing with bone broth is an excellent and natural way to boost the collagen in your body.
  • Gut health: As we have already discussed, bone broth can be exceptionally helpful for supporting leaky gut however, the gelatin in bone broth has also been shown to help support overall intestinal health as well.
  • Skin health: Once again, collagen takes the spotlight here. Collagen can help form elastin within the skin which can help support that healthy and youthful glow we all want!
  • Immune system: If you need an immune boost, bone broth is the way to go. Since the majority of our immune system resides in the gut, supporting digestive health is one of the best ways to build a strong immune system. As we now know, bone broth is excellent for the gut and can help support gut integrity.

There are so many wonderful health benefits of bone broth, and making it is super simple. Don’t have time to make your own batch of bone broth? Some health food stores are now offering premade bone broths, so grab yourself a mug and pour yourself a hot cup of bone broth with a pinch of Himalayan pink sea salt. It will nourish your body from the inside out.

Good Eatings

Malin tells us how healthy eating and cooking have positively impacted her everyday life…Well, I used to have terrible digestion after having gone through some stressful life changes and a bout of bad food poisoning from shell fish. The way I ate completely changed this and I live a life more or less free from pain and bloating today and it impacts my day immensely. The digestion issues I had seemed to affect my immune system and I was ill a lot over a year or so, more than just stomach aches and other issues that come with digestion issues, and it kept me from doing a lot of things that I wanted to. It turned out I was intolerant to quite a few foods I ate often like dairy and eggs as well as gluten and I decided to go plant based and gluten free. That’s a lot at once but when I got the handle on it I learned to cook in a much more creative and intuitive way with ingredients I barely ate before. I also got my digestive health back. Since going plant based and ditching the gluten most of the time I’ve rarely been ill, enjoyed a new found energy and very seldom have stomach aches and those other nasty digestion problems. That way I have been able to live my life with more spark and instead of often be lying around due to pain or illness I’ve been out in the world enjoying myself and working at what’s meaningful to me.
