A Simple Evening Routine to Wind Down & Promote Relaxation

Do you come home from work tired, stressed out, and unable to get a good night’s sleep because your mind is wandering? If so, you are so not alone. In today’s crazy and hectic world everything is done at such as fast pace. It’s hard to find time to relax, and when we get home for the day, there are so many things that need to be done that it can make relaxing next to impossible.

The good news is that even if you have a super busy schedule, there are ways that you can wind down your day and promote relaxation. With a simple yet effective routine, you could help combat stress and promote better sleep habits by implementing this evening routine into your day. It’s a three-step process that works.

Step #1 Set a Cutoff Time for Yourself: What does this entail? Setting a time each night to log off the computer, set your phone aside, and put away any electronics or other distractions can help you get into a routine. It will also help promote relaxation. It’s a time of day that you can look forward to as your wind down time where you focus on relaxation and nothing else. This will soon become a time that you look forward to each day, and it will become second nature.

Step #2 Choose One Thing That Relaxes you: After you decide on your cutoff time for all electronics and distractions, do something that relaxes you each night. It can be the same thing each night, or you can vary it from day to day. Some great ways to relax include a warm bath, sipping on a cup of herbal tea while reading a book, or doing gentle nighttime stretching.

Step #3 Make Use of Essential Oils: Essential oils can be a very powerful addition to your wind downtime each night. The trick is to use pure essential oils such as Young Living Essential Oils that are pure grade. Choose relaxing scents; lavender is always a go-to option to help promote relaxation and sleep. Diffuse some essential oils before you go to bed to help you get off to sleep.

Winding down can be difficult for many people and especially when you have so much on your mind and so much to do. However, when you set a wind-down routine for yourself each night your body will feel rejuvenated, and you will be much more productive the next day. Try this three-step process and see if it helps you reduce stress, sleep better, and feel more relaxed.
